Mayor of Addis Ababa and Ethiopian delegates visit EEC|CCNY

The mayor of Addis Ababa and a delegation of Ethiopian environmental and city planning officials visited EEC|CCNY as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program.  The Ethiopian government, in cooperation with a non-profit organization, Horn of Africa Regional Environment Center (HOAREC), are working together to clean and re-purpose a 40-year old dumping site in the city of Addis Ababa.  The delegation came to EEC|CCNY to learn about the current research in the recovery of materials and energy from waste and to learn about successful waste management practices in the U.S. that could be applied to Ethiopia’s waste infrastructure.
